A swivel-chair range with innovative backrest
When evolving the ‚Sayl‘ chair family, the designers took their cue from the construction basics of suspension bridges. A Y beam holds the elastic net structure on top at its corner points, and an arc surrounding the back of the seat area in a half circle functions as a fixed point for each of the net’s vertical lines of force. In other words: there is no frame in the classical sense and therefore no hard edges. The plastic injection-moulding net structure looks as if it had been directly transposed from the 3D computer simulation to the chair. What you do not see but nevertheless feel are the different tension levels in the netting, which is maximally adaptable and optimally supports the spine independent of the seat’s tilting motions.
