■ At the ‚Salone‘, the manufacturer surprised visitors with a very courageous collection that seemed to plumb the poles between art and design. But instead of encountering names of well-known designers here, it was artists who set the tone. Which also applied to an unusual seating object called ‚Lachea‘ by Paolo Parisi who was born in Catania. Parisi’s works reflect fundamental and formative impressions of his homeland, and it is therefore no wonder that he named his ground-level seating furniture ‚Lachea‘. The Byzantine denomination of the island may, by the way, be translated as “flat”. What you should also know is that Parisi likes to work with “poor”, i.e. ordinary and humdrum materials. The element shown here measures 44 x 210 x 105 cm, and like the three satellites it consists of a sequence of thin layers of corrugated cardboard, rubber, polyurethane foam, polypropylene, synthetic felt and laminated wood.
