Plug-in connections reduce shipping volume
At the Stockholm furniture fair, the pluggable ‚Robo‘ chair caused quite a stir. Formally it conjures up Icelandic artist Björk’s robots. Similar to these robots it is composed of individual components. The separate parts – backrest, seat and the four legs – are made of complex moulded wood. In conjunction with a compressed felt overlay on the reverse side or underneath a very robust sandwich construction comes into being that accommodates the joints. During the two years it took to develop this chair, the aim was to arrive at an environment-friendly and easy-to-transport structure from the very beginning. ‚Robo‘ is delivered as a flat-pack measuring 50 x 50 x 20 cm for the client to assemble it him or herself.
