A coloured backrest as link between tradition and contemporary design
In the scope of their third joint project, the designer and the manufacturer reach new heights of classic furniture characteristics like simplicity, good craftsmanship and functionality without disappointing users who expect an unequivocally modern design. ‘Monza‘ is the successful materialisation of a solid-oak construction that is basically unobtrusive and traditional but in combination with a coloured plastic top acting as arm and backrest is transformed into an up-to-date stackable chair. The reduced wood structure that does not deny its Scandinavian models is available in natural ashwood or stained black or in a wengé colour. The arm-cum-backrest top of reinforced polypropylene comes in black, greyish white, red, wine-red, light blue and yellowish green. This “spot of colour”, although of some importance for the interior-design concept in hand, has above all a stabilising function because it securely fastens the four legs in conjunction with the seat area. The earmarked areas of application include gastronomy, private dwellings and general use in the contract bracket.
