■ The manufacturer was one of the first who introduced the Japanese style of sitting close to the ground in the western hemisphere. The company is located in the Etizen region, which is known for its traditional crafts enterprises, and it has extensive know-how in the field of upholsteries using hand-made Washi paper. In the case of ‚Jipangu‘, too, the covers are made of this comfortably soft natural material that is surprisingly tough. Each segment measures 96 x 96 cm, the seat height is 15 and the height of the backrests 65 cm, and the backrests come in three different shapes that allow linear and corner configurations. The seat cushions look a bit like tatami and are also offered on metal frames (seat height 25 cm). Armchairs and a variety of (side) tables on frames complement this rather “western” variant.
