Has the Right Spin
A special joint lets the light disk “dance“
In the case of ‚Spock‘, a narrow aluminium carcass reduced to the essential serves as the housing for a moving, flat illuminated disk equipped with LEDs. Just 12.5 millimetres thick, it is linked to the housing by means of a pivoting, asymmetrical joint, allowing the disk to be swivelled horizontally by 359 degrees and vertically by between –10 and +45 degrees. Despite its low height, its designers have succeeded in completely integrating all power supply components in the carcass, and so nothing interferes with its clear appearance. A total of 16 LEDs is recessed into the disk. By means of a reflector, their light is diverted to a lens, which ultimately emits the beam of light into the room. Conceived as a wall and ceiling surface-mounted luminaire, ‚Spock‘ can also be supplied with a fixture for rail mounting. A technically matured product that doesn’t reveal its potential at first glance.
