Des. + Fab.
Extreme Dimensions
Solid-wood planks with an exceptional length and width
The solid-wood ‚Douglas‘ fir planks – up to 15 m long and 45 cm wide – have become the trademark of this enterprise, run in the fourth generation and known since 1998 by the name of Dinesen. Douglas fir wood is harder than that of pine or spruce and has considerably less branches. The trunks of the 80 to 120 year old trees grow up to 60 m tall and up to one metre in thickness. The production of solid-wood planks follows a careful procedure, from the selection of the trunk, to cutting, drying and trimming, planing and milling it. In addition to the Douglas variety, the manufacturer also offers exceptionally long and wide planks of other types of wood. For instance oak locked with dovetail joints (‚HeartOak‘). Each floor is tailor-made in close cooperation with the client, the architect and the planner.
