The Architecture of Democracy
Since Germany was united, a host of pioneering Federal buildings has been erected. Buildings for constitutional bodies, for museums or cultural purposes, for technology and science. Those who commission these buildings will have a special responsibility seeing that their constructions are in the focus of public attention – they illustrate the standard of our state’s and our democracy’s cultural architectural identity and function as national and international calling cards. This weighty publication pays tribute to the buildings‘ quality and variety. About 80 buildings are presented in this tome in great detail, accompanied by comprehensive documenting texts and pictures, which have come into being or have been renovated from scratch in Berlin, in the Federal states and abroad since the reunification.
