Art in Public Spaces
An unbiased glance at an old town. Already back in 2008, the town of Sesslach in Upper Franconia had invited students of the Munich Academy of Fine Arts to develop installations for the 675th anniversary of the granting of city rights. Under the tutelage of Prof. Maria Auböck and Christoph Brenner, six students of the outdoor design department worked out manifold concepts and projects that are now being staged all over the urban area. Visitors can take a look at the installations which refer to the circumstances, the history and the identity of the town until December. There are for instance umbrellas made of willow wickerwork, pillars of steel that focus the glance on special details, text banners half a kilometre long, sound installations in the city gates and illuminated boxes amidst the historical half-timbered houses.
