As the Cube Bounces
43 centimetres edge length for innumerable applications
Systems are somehow captivating. Add-ons can be impressive. A cubic module that reveals its systematic features only when having been added on will be convincing the moment you understand it. True, ‚Dado‘ is not really a cube because then it would only have outer surfaces and edges. But we don’t want to split hairs. The contours are really reminiscent of a cube with an edge length of 43 cm. Its surfaces are made of 8 mm thick HPL in white with black edges. Let’s now look at the difference: one outer surface of ‚Dado‘ was shifted toward the inside. Up to the centre. When the cube lies on its back, the “box“ is only half as deep as it looks from the outside. But this would somehow waste space. So you detach two opposite lateral surfaces beneath the “box“ and win back the cube’s volume. To what end? For all and sundry! Seeing that a cube has no top and no bottom, as we all know, everything else will be created by adding it on in any position. A special kind of magic cube.
