Folding Permissible
Think outside the box: the ‘Plica‘ exhibition provides an overview of bending, canting and folding, in other words everything that comes under the Latin word “plica“. It’s so easy, so simple and at the same time so fascinating: folding – one of the basics of design. ‘Plica‘ shows what folding means and its range of variation as a modern cultural technique, from paper plane to cutlery or clothes to furniture or sports cars. One of the elementary ways to generate three-dimensionality from two-dimensional surfaces and to create stability by folding is thus being used in an unexpected and effective way in contemporary design.
