Award-winning Brick Architecture
Our area of culture has been marked by brick buildings for milleniums, and up to the present day this material has lost nothing of its topicality – its place in architecture being undisputed. The biannually conferred Brick Award wants to provide an overview of exceptional applications of bricks. The present book presents the three current award-winners plus other oustanding products selected by an international jury. The buildings shown in this context cover a broad spectrum from a hairdresser’s salon in Belfast to the district court in Kattowitz and the extension of a school building in Burkina Faso. The first prize was awarded to the State Forum and Parliament of the Principality of Liechtenstein in Vaduz, designed by HansjörgGöritzArchitekturstudio. The second prize went to the South Asian Human Rights Documentation Centre in New Delhi by Anagram Architects. Nikolaus Bienefeld was awarded the third prize for the Morjan House, a hunting lodge at Huettingen an der Kyll.
